The mission of the Centre Region Parks and Recreation Authority is to serve Centre Region residents of all ages throughout the year with a variety of recreation opportunities to enrich their lives through participation in programs, use of facilities, provision of leadership resources and technical assistance, and serving the participating municipalities, both residents and non-residents, and groups.
The Authority membership includes five municipalities--the Borough of State College and the Townships of College, Ferguson, Harris, and Patton--and the State College Area School District. The State College Borough Water Authority maintains over 16,000 metered services and 270 miles of water mains in State College Borough and parts of Benner, College, Harris, Halfmoon, Patton and Ferguson Townships. In addition, the Authority maintains 7 Well Fields, the Shingletown Reservoir and a 6 million gallon per day (MGD) water treatment plant.
The University Area Joint Authority (UAJA) is the municipal authority providing Wastewater treatment, or Water Recycling services, to much of State College and the Centre Region. The Authority Board sponsors C-NET coverage of its monthly Authority Board of Directors meetings.
